What and when to tip

I tip $10 to the DM if they DONT change my tanks and do my weights for me and $20 if they do. That is assuming a 2 tank Dive. If I have the same DM for my afternoon Dives I usually just tip a flat $10. Making it a total $30 to him per day.

lol... I tip more if they DON'T touch my stuff. They more they touch it, the more the tip meter goes down and I make them aware of this when I board the boat.

Well, you don't want to over-tip, for sure - we Mexican DMs will be confused, and wonder what we did to earn it. But, as a rule, tip everybody who does anything for you, especially when that person is not being paid by a boat, company, hotel, etc.

I am with driftin by on this one. While they know how to, it has been my experience that I get water where it shouldn't be and have had them damage my first stage before. Not all do this, but on our last trip I had to rent a reg because of this. It sucked because not only was the reg no where near the quality of mine but I had just got a hoseless computer for my birthday that I only got one dive with :-(

Just my personal preference. And as for tipping, I follow the $5 US a tank rule with more at the end of the week for the people that stand out. I also usually bring t-shirts and ballcaps that have my state name and related design on them with me to hand out. People always seem to like free clothes. I know I do.

No, you're right but it's just that... the repetitive, redundancy of the task when something doesn't get done correctly. But hey, it's only your life support equipment, right? :shakehead
