That's a lot, IMO.

Naw, I think it's the "Mine is bigger than yours." mentality.

ggun: If you read the other posts, you will see that I tip exactly what every other poster says that they tip. In other words: $5 a tank or $10 for a two tank dive. Duh.

OOPS, forgot to mention in the last post that I tip both the captain and the DM the same amount. No cheapskate here.

I guess Gordon and I both are missing something because if you take another look at your post, you say you give the DM $10 and the Captain $10 for a 2-tank dive. Unless you're tipping for someone else, that comes out to be a total of $20 or $10 per tank... not $5. I've read it 10 times... did I miss something? But whatever, it's your money and if you tip that much unconditionally you're not doing a bad DM or bad Captain any favors IMO. YMMV.

driftn by: That's right, $10 each for a two tank trip. When I go diving it's for three days, one two tank dive each morning. That adds up to $60 in tips for the boat as opposed to $30. I guess I didn't read the other's posts correctly. So it costs me another $30 more than most people tip. So what. If I can afford $1200 for a round trip ticket, hotel, diving and a rental car (Cozumel) I can certainly afford an extra $30 for the boat folks. They work hard, depend on their tips and deserve it. Other cheapskates may disagree. I understand that some people don't tip at all. I also tip the waiter and cook at least $5.00 each at my evening meal and a few bucks for the workers if I eat in the afternoon, along with the lady who cleans my room. Costs me $100 or a little more each trip. I'll guarantee you one thing though and that is that when they see me coming the service is immediate, friendly and most helpful.

I do $5 per tank as well. Also, when staying somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean for a week, I usually tip the housekeeper a $100 for the week. They are probably some of the hardest workers at most resorts and also need it the most.

Naw, that's cool dude. Again, it's your money.

What driftin' by said. That's twice what everyone else was saying they tip. Duh, yourself. ;^)

ggun: Well, maaaaayyyybbbbbeeeee I've got twice the money to spend as the average diver and enjoy spreading it around. Think about that. Double-Duh!!
