@ what age u can start diving ????
what is the recommended age to start scuba ?

as you can hold a regulator in your mouth?

Seriously, I got my daughter certified at 13 in SSI. 12 is what comes to mind for a "junior" Cert. I think that what it was called. She's due for an update now though.

The LDS I frequent has an introduction "adventure" class. I've seen some pretty young kids in that in the pool. Don't think they do O/W though.

My buddy and I were discussing this one day and someone commented as long as they are old enough to follow instructions my buddy replied that left out both of us.

Each agency has its own minimums. Its more important to judge the kid in question. Some kids at eleven or twelve are ready to do open water and some are not even close. You have to be the judge. Don't push them if they are not ready. This is after all a very dangerous sport for those who don't take it seriously or are not ready for it. Err on the side of saftey. If theres a question, the kid is probably not ready.

Good luck

Jim

With the PADI system you can have them in the pool as young as 8, and have them diving in the openwater as young as 10. Personally I don't like to teach anyone under 12, it just seems like the maturity level isn't there below that. But you have to gauge each individual

I would say as soon as they are old enough to make competent decisions while diving, and understand the risks, and also feel completely confident underwater.

11-13

That rules a lot of adult divers I know
