My friend is after an entire set of scuba gear with a reasonably large budget, and I'm after a few bits and pieces as well, computer, reel, 2 knives (BC + leg) light, etc etc anyway we decide based on reputation to go through Leisurepro since scubagear in Australia at the LDS is around 3 times the price of online stores (thats before tax and transport.)

Shown as the most popular choice of online side store for scubaboard members and with lots of recommendations we thought we were on a good thing... wrong. :(

Put in the order online, they invoice came back incorrect, they had left off one of the computers, send over this time a number of emails, around 4, none were responded to for around 3 days. Called Leisurepro at 9am local time and arranged for correct items to be sent.

Package is apparently sent last Thursday but after many emails and no replys on the subject of getting the fedex consignment number so we can track it I call Leisurepro once again, they respond 'ahhhh we don't have that..we'll get back to you on it..'

After spending 45 minutes on hold with Fedex they can find no record of our package, which apparently happens 'quite often' but no doubt it will turn up 'any day now.'

When shipping is costing $USD150 and the order itself is worth over $USD2000 I would of expected better.

Just wait until customs is finished with it. The import taxes will make you swallow your tongue. Last time customs here caught me "importing" scuba gear they tried charging me something like 19% plus some kind of import duty. I told them to send it back because I wasn't paying, which they did, and then I got the supplier to send it again. The second time it slipped through. The whole process took 6 weeks.

Maybe if you're lucky it'll slip through the first time.

For anything over a couple of hundred $$, I never order using an online tool, but rather call on the phone. Many stores of all types on the internet just don't have the ordering software down pat...(Just my suggestion for next time...)

Not only do I want the order to be correct, but I want to assess the competence level of the folks at the other end.

Also, the emailed invoice has a tracking number for UPS (which is their normal delivery method) and that tracking number is valid. Are you sure it went FedEx? I didn't even see that as a choice on the LP web page.

I recently called LP for a relatively high priced order ($1100) and the invoice they emailed me was perfect, I got some $$ off the total price, and the things are on the way....

However, I will admit that I will be in your camp if the items are not as ordered, when they arrive tomorow (Wednesday).

Good luck!

Sean

I've ordered several things from LP including my main regulator. I usually get the stuff within a day of ordering it, since I'm in Boston and they are in NY. I've never had any trouble returning products or receiving incorrect orders.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I have also used LP and never had any problems. But I did
my ording over the phone and not the internet.

Good luck,

:)

difficulties with LP. That must be so frustrating!

I've ordered several things from them recently (although tiny in cost-wise compared to your large order) and I've always had great service, a tracking number, and quick delivery. But I am also in the US, so that makes a difference I am sure.

I hope that your order arrives and that you don't have any more problems. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Good luck

Sorry to hear about your experience with them. I do agree that anytime someone orders from "mail order companies" that you do it over the phone. You get more personal service and there is less chance of software crashing and screwing up your order. I personally have ordered almost $2000 in the past couple months and no problems. When I have E-mailed them questions they have responded within 24 hours. I would like to think this is an isolated incident you are experiencing. Lets us know the outcome.

When you order over the phone, the guy taking the orders is going to be putting it in the computer over there.

When you do it yourself you can actually double check for yourself.

I've had nothing but great experiences with getting gear from Leisure Pro. Prices always beat everyone else by a good amount and the service has been great>
