Whale sharks

You're right. And that's exactly why it's such a thrill to see one here. To me diving a site with (almost) guaranteed whaleshark sightings would be not half the thrill as stumbling on one when you least expect it.

Especially at a place like Richelieu where there are so many other things to keep you occupied. One minute taking a photo of a Harlequin Shrimp, the next minute swimming with a whaleshark. Just in from Surin Island: 2 Mantas at Torinla this morning while snorkeling.

It's a nightmare-situation for photographers though. Having your macro set and taking pictures of a little shrimpie and then this whaleshark showing up!

Noisy as hell also with all the excited tank clanging going on. You would think people never saw a whaleshark before!

And then all those divers just zipping up and down after the whaleshark, burning through their air, completely ignoring their screaming dive computers and somehow still managing to get to the surface without a scratch!
