Before we condemn the Japanese for their behavior, let's all remember that in the U.S., we also have a community of our very own citizens that kill whales every year. They have been doing it for centuries, and continue to do it today. Of course, I'm speaking about the Innuits' annual hunt of bowhead whales. More info here:

I am neither for nor against the Innuit tradition of whale hunting. I just want to remind Americans that their disrespect for the Japanese tradition might be hypocritical.

I guess the real reason that I'm bumping this thread is that I had a terrible nightmare last night that I was a captain on a whaling boat, my wife was my first mate, and I harpooned a whale off the front deck of my boat. It was one of those dreams that make you wake up feeling sick :xeye:
