I am new to diving and will be doing a NAUI class next weekend. I really wanted my own wetsuit and bought one thru my LDS. I'm a big guy though and nothing off the shelf fits me quite correctly. The wetsuit I ended up buying is too long in the legs (maybe 5 or 6 inches) but seems to fit everywhere else. The LDS owner told me that it wouldn't be a big deal and that a custom dive suit would be wouldn't be significantly better gioven the costs. I'm somewhat reluctant to buy a custom suit right now since I am currently losing weight. Is a custom wetsuit worth the investment even if I have to replace it a year later? Will I even notice a problem with the length?

Have the suit trimmed for now , it shouldnt cost more them $20. Then once you get to your desired weight get a new suit then if you feel you need it.

A custom suit is well worth it if you're hard to fit, but not until your weight is stable.

A custom suit is well worthwhile and Liquid fit will do the first round of alteration gratis when you loose that weight!

There is the bird in the hand point tof view. If It really is a good fit except for that detail then you are good to go with a local alteration. Customs are not always perfect right out of the chute.

That sucks. :11:

Yeah, have your suit altered for now - get a custom made later.

If your location was in your profile, you would receive more detailed suggestios. :)

I had an old suit that the sleeves were way to long.... I cut it off my self. It worked great for me but it was an OLD suit...... I would have someone shorten it and have arm and leg zippers but in also... they are nice...
