I am gonna do some pool training in a cold swimming pool.

Will wearing a wetsuit damage it ?

Yes it will but not immediately. The most obvious change over time is that the colour will fade. Black will become grey, etc.

A few dives in the pool won't make a noticeable difference.

R..

Probably....but so will the sun....regular use...time...etc.....unto death.

No it won't from a practical standpoint; no different than a typical life of a wetsuit.
Do 1-2 pool sessions per week for a year and then you'll notice a difference between a pool wetsuit and an ocean-only wetsuit. The mild chlorine will slowly discolor any black to charcoal & do a very minimal loss of elasticity. You won't notice loss of elasticity in the suit but you will see it in the cuffs. Stretch the leg/arm hole and it won't snap/rebound as aggressivly like a new suit by the end of that year.

For you don't worry about it, just give it a freshwater rinse like after any dive and let it hang dry. One time or even a dozen pool sessions and you won't notice anything.

Which, "from a practical standpoint", means yes it will....typically.

I've got a 3 mm shorty that I bought from Lidl about 20 years ago for around £20. I regularly use it in the pool and it is still in good nick. Rinse it in the shower and dry it afterwards and it will be fine.

Most important to remember - rinse the chlorine out right away. If you treat it before hand with a commercial wetsuit conditioner from your LDS, it will slow down the fade and the degradation of the material. Worst thing you can do - long pool training outside on a sunny day in a heavily chlorinated pool. The "black to grey" is almost overnight. (Learned that during my IDC in the Keys.)

Pool is fine. Worst part is the chlorine. Public pools tend to be high. Private pool, off season, cold, probably very little chlorine.

When I had a pool I kept a shorty around. It was a cheap one. In a year, the stitching went from black to a light brown. Actual neoprene was unharmed. Stitching was unharmed as well. Only a cosmetic issue. I have done more harm to wetsuits from taking them on deep dives repetitively then anything else. And that is just normal use.

You can stir brownie batter with your pinky, but from a practical standpoint I'd say it's better to use a spatula.

When I get home from a dive I throw all my gear in the pool and then lay it out to dry on the patio furniture. The only additional rinsing I do is washing out the inside of my BCD with a garden hose.
That's it, been doing that for years. Haven't had a problem with anything, including my wetsuit.
