Not too much experience in diving HI, but I will be in Kauai from the 19th - 27th.

I plan on doing many dives.

Can I get away with a 3mm? realizing of course that people are different, what is the norm people wear this time of year.

c

3mm full length will be just fine.

I don't know about Kauai, and I don't know where you are coming from, but my husband and I just did a week in Maui. Our 3 mils were okay for a single dive, but we were glad of the 3 mil hooded vests we put under them for the multiple dive days. Water temperatures were running about 75F. We normally dive Puget Sound in dry suits.

We are going to kauai april 1 do we need to wear hoods diving. I really don't like diving with a hood. We were going to bring our own wet suits but looks like they wont be warm enough. How much is it to rent them? that is the only piece of equipment we will be renting. Any suggestions on dive ops. We are staying 2 miles from the lihue airport. A time share next to the Raddison any info on that? thanks
Lynne

Well we are taking our 3.5mm suits. We are leaving on Sunday and I will post a report of sorts when I return.

Yes, agree with TSandsM, 3mm is a little cool by second dive this time of year. 5 mm better for 74 degree water.

You're gonna freeze in those 3's. Many dive leaders are wearing 7's now. My wife and I use 5's this time of year with light gloves and hood.
