Hi Guys,

I ordered a wetsuit from Amazon, and the proportions were all off. I surf, and own a number of thinner wetsuits so I figured that I was a medium no matter which wetsuit I chose. Wrong.

I went in to Sports Chalet (closest 'dive shop' to me) and tried on one of their wetsuits that fit really, really well everywhere except for the zippered ankles. There was some space that would easily let in water. Because I'm in Southern California, I wear booties and the SCUBA tech said that the space wouldn't be a problem when I was wearing booties (he didn't look very closely).

I wanted to pose the question to you guys. Should the wetsuit seal on my ankle even without booties? If some space is allowable, how much?

Thank you!

Eli Kallison

You want the suit to go over top of the boots to allow water (and, er, other liquids) to flush out instead of giving you balloon legs. You want it "not loose" if that makes sense - not a death grip on your ankles, but stretched slightly.

Perfect, thank you. That does make sense. I think this wetsuit might work then.
