I am getting a case for my phone that can optionally mount a wet wide angle lens. What are the benefits of this lens compared to using the native wide angle lens on the phone? Can you typically use both together?

Many thanks!

An external WA lens is going to sharpen up the edges of your shots by correcting for optical aberration caused by water. Generally speaking, you would run your camera in wide angle mode when using the external lens.

Here's an example of a WA lens for GoPro but it would be the same principle for a phone camera...

This is the 0.6x on my Pixel6a definitely not very wide
