I had an issue on a weeks liveaboard last year which caused the skin on the sides of my ankles to be worn (no blister but slowly opened up an open wound on the inside and outside of both ankles). Took a pair of ordinary cotton socks (fairly thick that I had in my bag) and wore them inside the boots the rest of the week.

I now wear them while wetsuit diving no matter how many dives and no issues since then.

Lycra socks. The boots go on and off like butter and the socks protect your feet from rub sores.

Big fan of Lycra socks. I use them with my Swiftwater rescue boots as well and doffing and donning is a breeze. Also use Lycra gloves which has made life easier in that department too.
