West Florida Dive Club (Pensacola area) Meeting Jan. 6th

Hey y'all! We are having our next dive club meeting on January 6th at 6:30PM with a get together at 5:00PMish at the Quality Inn in Gulf Breeze Florida, the Pre-meeting get together will be at Jambalayas which is the restaurant attached to the Hotel. We've probably had around 40 people at the meetings thus far and we are expecting more people to join as spring time approaches. We'd love to see you at the meeting so come on by!

Probably not yet. We have just finished pounding out the Bylaws, application, and waiver and submitting them to a lawyer to review. Once the Lawyer gives us the thumbs up then we will create our Non-Profit, open a bank account and then we can start taking monies. It has not been a cut and dry process, hopefully we will have the word from the lawyer by next meeting and be ready with a complete sign up package by the February meeting. Part of the Bylaws is to attend one meeting before you can become a memeber though, so attending this next meeting is still very important! Hopefully we'll see you there. I'll also be doing a presentation on ScubaBoard "How to" after the meeting.

Can you give us a one-line goal of the club? I might be interested, but you gotta talk me into making the drive

Meet local divers, find out what they've been doing, where they have been diving, and exchanging phone numbers, etc.
But, we also have some club business to finish like, a final vote on the Club's logo before we start printing T-shirts, etc. And share info about the Manatee Trip and where we stand with getting set up as a Non-Profit. I will also be showing non-SB'ers how to set up a new account and navigate the site after the meeting for those interested!

Will non-members be allowed to go on dive club trips? Tuesday nights are just not a good night for me since I work on Tues and Wed and it is a 2 hour drive one way. I have done the manatee snorkel and dive before so I probably wouldn't be interested in that trip but I'm sure you will have others that I would like to participate in. I want to go on a trip to the Caribbean in 2009 and I would like doing it with a group.

I think the discussion was that non-members can go only if there are still slots on a trip available after all members have passed on the deal. But mebership is going to be very resaonable and will come with discounts at local dive shops and free air fills too, and we're hoping a free shirt!

Hey, if we missed you at the meeting then you missed out on a great meeting. We had about 25 people at the meeting, lot of which were new. We fianlized our logo, and talked about the upcoming manatee trip, as well as an intro to SB and general dive discussions. We are having our next meeting on February 2nd and will plan on having a "How to UW Photo/video meeting" We are working on a guest speaker, but I'd love to have some of the area divers such as GLENFWB, HETLAND, and others that could bring there cameras and some of there favorite photo shots that they could display either on a posterboard, or via overhead slideshow. Please come with info on prices and be prepared to talk and share info. If anyone has suggestions for a guest speaker please PM me!
