Well I have a history of asthma and no DAN doc with in miles so I went to see a lung specialist, did all the test, blood gas of 99% but told me I only had 40% lung function ! He said I need to go to the hospital because his test may be in error. He made an appoinment for the 9th.

Went home and started having chest pain. I have had acid relux in the past but with this bad news I went to the ER later in the day , just to be sure

They hooked me up to an ekg and had a hard time because of hair on my chest. They them gave me some moriphine for the pain.

Some doctor comes in and tells me that my EKG say I have lost my left verticle !!
So they go to put me to another room. I start getting dizzy from the morphine and puke. Well they think I in full cardiact arrest so here comes the crash cart.

They hook the EKG back up and see Im okay but I have to stay the night for testing / blood work and a stress test.

They take blood and give me shots all night, all negiaitve.

Do the first echogram , its fine blood gas at 98%. I run the tread mill for 20 minutes and maxed out the incline.
Then the do another echogram, heart fine and blood gas at 97% under full stress. Nothing wrong at all except acid relux.

They give me a prescription to zantac and send me home.

man I must realy want to dive to put up with this.

I still have to go have my PF test redone.

Wow - very scary but I promise you the diving experience will be worth it!

Wow, I don't think I can run on a treadmill for 20 minutes. Sounds like you're in good health to this layman! :D
good luck with those PFTs!

The tread mill / bikes are easy for me just because I carry around a 30 LB tool bag all day up and down stairs and ladders, to be honest I rather lazy, Im consider myself a recovering "workaholic" My moto is "just sitting on my *** one day at a time"

Now if only somebody would let me in the damn water !!!

I love that motto! I can't stop laughing! You should make that your sig line, if you don't I would love to make it mine!

I"ll use it but feel free to tag it on if you want.

Glad the heart failure part didn't pan out :11:

So... your heart's OK, but what of the asthma test? Entrapped air in any part of the lungs would be a bad thing for diving... well, for ascending anyway ;). Though I do realize that many folks do just fine as long as they have their asthma under control.

Thats the big "IF". My astham is controlable and only is triggered by tree pollens.

I know that if I get certified I will only be able to dive under perfect conditons. My future dive partner ( my sisters a master diver) relises I may have to call a dive at anytime.

Well it sounds like you are already very aware of the issues here. I wish you well with future tests and stuff and can only hope that you'll get your all clear (albeit with conditions) and will finally get to dive.

Best of luck!
