Anyone know of decent weight pouch for camband placement that has buckles and isn't made by halcyon? Im am looking to place some weight there and wants some options that weren't as rough on my wallet. Links to any finds/recommendation are really appreciated. :D

thanks

What do you mean by buckles?

I have used both Trident camband weight pouches, and XS Scuba ones. Both slide onto the bands, and close with Velcro. I prefer the XS Scuba pouches, as they seem to have equivalent capacity but a much smaller outside profile. I have had no problems with losing weights from them with the Velcro closures. I think that's in part because the weights tend to be small, and in part because the wing protects the pouches from contact with anything.

Halcyon has a buckle system in their pouches, which I believe is supposed to prevent creation of a failure point. However, If you have had no problems with the velcro system I will look for those then. Being able to slide them on also makes it easier to slide closer to your body, which would seem to more centrally locate the weight better.

Thanks for the advice :D

I made my own from a pair of 10 to 11 inch pieces of light 2" webbing with velcro glued (neoprene cement) to each end. Thread through a 2 or 3 lb weight and fasten around a tank strap. The velcro closure is held fast between the strap and the tank so nothing is going anywhere as long as the tank strap is closed. Pics I hope.

why not just run the tank strap through the weight the "normal" way? will it be too short?

Too much work with my Scubapro straps. Especially if the dive op wants their weights back every day.

yeah, many tank straps out there are too short for that to be an option....also, I don't like to have metal-to-metal contact with weights grinding into my tank's finish.

yeah, Halcyon stuff isn't bargain priced, but some of their gear is, IMHO, the best designed gear out there......so I do use Halcyon SPG's/mask pockets/SMBs/vertical release weight systems on all my BC's. IMHO, velcro sucks ! and I refuse to use any weight system incorporating velcro, and as you've observed, Halcyon is the only one out there making a non-velcro based weight system, plus I like the vertical release design, and as I build my own custom BC's, the Halcyon weight release system was the only design out there that would allow me to build my perfect BC the way I wanted to build it...so I'll admit I really didn't care how much Halcyon charged, I was willing to pay whatever it took to get my 'systems' to come together the way I wanted! :)

That is pretty cool!
