all,
Sorry to ask this but being new to it all, I'm stumped. I have dive rite 16 lb pockets - Model: AC3215-16 that I just saw are being discontinued :( SCUBA Diving Equipment for Technical, Wreck and Cave Diving: Dive Rite, Inc - Product Catalog - 16-lb Weight Pockets. I have strung up my bp & wing and want to keep the pockets on the webbing. however, I use keepers and that doesn't do it - the pocket slides right over them. how can I lace the webbing through and ensure that the pockets don't slide when diving?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the newbie Q.

Whodunit,

Send me your address and I'll send you a set of K-ustom Made K-raken Forge tri-glides what will keep them in place.

I might take another short piece of web and run it between keepers on both sides of the pocket strap. I would be absolutely certain that the unbroken web belt was the web running through the pocket strap. I certainly wouldn't want to have the short strap come loose from a keeper and dump the weights.

BTW, I don't want my BC to be so heavy so I use a weight harness. I figure with the 6# backplate and 43# tank, that's enough to try to lift at my advanced age.

the K, that's a very generous offer, thank you. I have done so. please let me know if I can do anything.
thanks, too, rstofer. that does lead me to a question that I've had about the weight harness....once you add a weight harness, how does a bp/w setup differ from a bc? I realize there are different parts that make it up...this is one of the reasons I don't add big heavy weight pockets. the harness is an interesting idea.
I'm not sure another piece of web will hold these pockets either...but it's an interesting idea to explore. thanks.

I used DR pockets on my singles plate and found the same issue. In my case, I just looped a piece of cave line through the bottom hole of the plate and through the loop of webbing. I made three laps to add some strenght and to reduce abrasion and then just tie it off so that the pocket is held close to the plate.

nice. i've started to experiment with the same ideas using cable ties, and seeing what the rubbing against the plate does with it over a few dives.

This is what I'm sending Whodunit:

interesting. so I see I'm not the only one with this issue. Good to know but wouldn't Dive Rite be a little smarter about the pocket design? Seriously, what am I missing? The K seems to have figured it out - that's a pretty slick solution if it works for me. The price is certainly right! I'll let y'all know.
There are some awfully nice people in dive land.

Works for me, don't see why it shouldn't work for you.
By the way, I eventually moved the tri-glide to intercept the aft loop on the pocket.

Gives a little more play room around the d-ring.

Dive Rite designed their weight pockets to work more with the TransPac or TransPlate harnesses. For hog harnesses, people tend to make their own ala Kraken or go with a weight belt.
