The cordura weight belts that hold soft weights are great. You can use your soft weights when diving locally and you can use the standard lead weights when diving overseas. Keep in mind though, if you bought a steel BP, your weight requirement will go down by the weight of the BP, so you won't be needing so much in the belt.

I would keep the plastic buckle on the weight belt insted of going to a metal one. Reason being, if yo uare in a situation where you need to ditch your gear, or ditch weight, you can reach down with out looking and know which one is which, but if they are both metal, that would be hard to do.

I disagree with your reasoning, as the inadverent loss of the weight belt would not be a good thing, and that will be more likely with a plastic buckle. Also, the buckles should be setup in opposite directions if that is an issue.

Point taken. I was thinking the typical Trident trinket kind. I also have a plastic buckle from Scubapro that is nice, but it holds my canister light.

I don't use a weight belt, but I still got SS buckles on order from FredT :D

I've had problems in the past w/plastic buckles either breaking or not being able to stay tight. I decided to change mine out with a SS one just to be safe. I am now thinking about giving the ACB pockets a try to see how they work.

I had the ACBs on my single rig and liked them, although they are bulky. I had 10 lbs per side and they worked with canister light, but the left d-ring is less than stellar if using stages.

Through configuration changes I have taken them off and now just have a couple small bullet weights on each side, out of the way. The removable weight pouches are nice when moving the rig around as you have to carry that much less weight.

Trade offs, always trade offs.

I had the same fear about the plastic buckles. We used the cheap kind that the LDS had during certification and I didn't want that.

Ordered the pouches, now just have to wait.

Do you guys that have experience with FredT buckles and ScubaPro find any difference in the two?
