Rubber belts are standard for commercial work. Basicly a 1/8" x 2"neoprene strip with either a quick release, or hard closure. Cheap, durable, won't "rotate" on you and easy to adjust as generally the weights bolt onto it.

Alternately you can go with heavier steel tanks to decrease weight requirements and/or a heavy backplate balanced rig.

Scubapro has a new weight belt.

I have will try it out in two weeks. Looks like it will hold, even our rotund figures.

Also a xxl diver.
How is that better than a regular belt, or the XS Scuba Pocket Belt (which is a great belt and probably costs less)? The ScubaPro belt is just another pocket belt, I don't see what special features it has to prevent it from slipping down, which is the problem cited by the OP.

I think if belts don't work for your body shape, the harness systems (DUI being the best, if the most expensive) are your best bet, short of going to a backplate and backplate weights or weight release systems.

I don't know. That's why I said I would try it and let him know.
I am a big (read overweight, fat, out of shape, or what ever a little guy call us behind our massive backs) guy, belts mean a great deal to us.

I ordered a rubber belt based on a lot of reading here. Unfortunately I'm still waiting for it, none of my local shops stocked such a thing. (They all thought I was nuts too.)

I just received the new Scubapro pocket weight belt. It’s well made and has a neoprene 1”wide strip on the inside to prevent slippage. My only knock is the buckle. It’s a plastic one that I tossed and replaced it with a solid, wellk made stainless buckle from http://www.deepseasupply.com - Thanks guys!

I’ll get it wet this weekend.

Thanks for the input. I purchased a rubber belt. Putting it on out of water it seems to be a much better fit. I took the quick release buckle off my nylon belt. On the rubber belt with no weight I would not call it a quick release, but it does release easily. I think I will carry some weight in my BC like someone suggested. I plan to get a weight integrated BC at a later(financially better) date. This is what is great about SB. People have a lot of experience and knowledge and are willing to share it with us newbies. Thanks to everyone!!! Looking forward to trying out new belt in Hawaii this January.

:D Thrilled to be diving!!!
