I use a home brewed suspender system with two independent quick dump weight pockets and love it. My belt only holds 10# so the amount isn't overwhelming, but it is enough ditch-able weight to matter.

Originally I just used a standard weight belt with weights on the belt itself. This changed to quick ditch pockets when I went to BP/W with a crotch strap. While removing my kit at the surface to board a RIB I inadvertently dropped the weight belt also (without knowing it at the time). I have a policy on not feeding the ocean deities any more than strictly necessary so rigged a harness on the belt. On a subsequent dive it saved the belt from dropping off in a similar circumstance.

On a series of recent dives my back was getting sore underwater and I lengthend the 'suspenders' moving the weights below my waist to my hips and instantly resolved my back pain issue. This is something I could not do with just a belt.

So what I have is individually drop-able weights, a system that is easy to don/doff but won't accidentally fall off if removing kit for an inflatable boat entry, and is widely position-able for trim and comfort reasons.

My weights are distributed such that I can jump in without BP/W and tank but wearing my weights, kit up and dive, reverse the process on surfacing and keep all my gear.
