Come on folks, the water hasn't stopped moving yet...!

I am a scuba-newbie looking to get WET as much as possible in the next few weeks before my wetsuit and I admit it's getting too cold. Last week I lucked out with a Brockville charter, but this weekend and next my wallet says Ouch so it'll have to be shore dives.

Here's the deal:

I want to dive.

I am just Open Water qualified so obviously (you've all been there) nothing ridiculously deep or challenging.

I am on limited funds so if you want me on a boat I'm there but it better be no-cost. (Yeah I know this mean shore dives)

I do have the odd family commitment such as my son's hockey games to take him to. But other than that, given enough notice I can manage most evenings or weekends.

Anything between Kingston and Cardinal is fair game.

PLease feel free to post, PM or e-mail me if you're willing to meet up with a newbie for some dives (and probably a good laugh or two at me as well)

I am always up for a dive. Too bad you are in kingston. If you are ever in TO and want to dive, I pretty much dive 3-4 times / week even in this weather that we have been having.

good luck finding some cheap diving :)

Whereabouts in Toronto do you dive?

I know a freediver who has talked about a quarry but I've also seen various other characters posting that there's no decent wrecks in the GTA.

Axeman, so where in Toronto would you go diving. I live here and don't know of too many places that I would want to go.

There are actually a couple of wrecks in Lake Ontario near the entrance to the Humber River. Problem is, I wouldn't be caught dead swimming in that water otherwise I might really be dead, swimming in that water.

I was hoping to Dive on Saturday... but my usual buddies are busy this weekend. :(

I've done the Morrison so many times - I was hoping for some new insight on locations... are any operators still running South/West of TO? Are there Shore dives other than lake Simcoe?

... but then again I still need a buddy :)

Lots of diving from shore in Kingston

Fairfield park, not much to see but depths to 100ft
Stella Bay - Amherst Island 40 - 50 feet, wagon hull, barrells and bottles
Burle Creek Quarry - Car and boat 30 feet of water
Cora Post Howe Island - small schooner loaded with bricks 30 feet of water drops to 120 feet in a couple of holes, littered with large boulders , ship parts and a harvard (yet to be located)
Marine Museum - the mecca of bottle hunting, several entry points two barges, anchors, cars, sailboat, and lots of fish. Two more hulls further out, the drydock was cleaned out also.
Rockport wall 250
the Sophia 60 feet of water located by the wall.
The Kinghorn - lined by the GLUE club this is a borderline technical dive or high advanced, be sure to check in to the Restraunt and pay the parking fees. The tour boats are still running.
Bath Marina - three hulls in 10 - 30 feet of water, winter diving only

Too bad you're in Toronto..................

No problem with that....

2.5 hours of driving is not a problem for good diving. As Tom can attest to... I think I was in Kingston/Brockville almost every weekend through September/October.
