APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—On the morning of Tuesday, May 21, 2024, a serious water incident occurred at Lac Lavon Lake near Hayes Trail and Garden View Drive. At approximately 9:40 AM, several emergency responders were called out for the report of a 20-year-old male diver who had been under the water for several minutes and had not resurfaced.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was part of a contracted team hired to remove weeds from the lake. It was reported that the diver was eventually found and taken out of the water. CPR was immediately started on them as they were reported to be unconscious and possibly not breathing. Once first responders arrived, they provided critical initial care before transporting the victim by ambulance to a local hospital. As of the latest update, the diver remains hospitalized, and the extent of his injuries has not been publicly detailed.

Emergency personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department, Apple Valley Police Department, local medics, and the Dakota County Sheriff’s Department all assisted with this incident.
