As far as I know, there isn't very good vis in that area until you're a few miles off-shore.

There was a Red Tide in about a month ago.
Might want to check with Spearboard.

A group of us from SB were in Port Aransas during last month's red tide.

There was a guy posting on the Spearboard.com that was reporting good vis. back in July and August. But once the seas started kicking up the vis. went down hill.

Yep, it wasnt half as nice on Oct 29th as it was on Oct 7th.

The red tide is now gone. As for snorkeling the Packery Channel "jetties", you may wish to read this:

Diving Packery will pretty much be limited the August and September with a couple more weeks on each end if the weather is good.

I'm eagerly awaiting the time it will take for it to become another Fish Pass.

I'm guessing the city will find a way to keep it open at least until the real estate to the south is developed from the current sea wall north to the jetty. :shakehead
