Does any know if the weather or diving conditions in Guanaja could be expected to vary significantly in late March-early April, versus mid-June?

Don't believe there is much difference between those two times of the year--anytime between February and June are considered the best diving months. (You want to avoid the rainy season, October through January.)

Spent a week diving in Guanaja (Isla de Guanaja) last June--the conditions were perfect, with warm water (~80°F to 82°F) and great visibility (from 60 to 150 feet).

Howdy!

Thanks for the info. Any chance you dove with Posado del Sol or otherwise learned of their operation?

We dove with Nautilus Dive Resort at the Villa at Dunbar Rock. Posado del Sol is a much larger and "more commercialized" dive op than Nautilus. We passed the Posado del Sol boat a couple times (it's a very small island)...but don't really know a whole lot about their operation.

Let me know if you want more info on Nautilus or the dive sites at Guanaja.

Also, if you have enough time during your trip, I would highly recommend visiting the Mayan ruins at Copan for a couple of days--well worth it.

Would love to hear your thoughts about the dive sites. We plan to hold our wedding at Posada del Sol and will be there for a week. Would also like to know how you got to/from Copan. We want to mention that to our guests as a possible side trip when they arrive or depart. Many guests would need to be hooked up with a tour guide. Thanks, Dan

John Hessburg from US Dive Travel set up our entire trip--including our side trip to Copan and the Mayan Ruins for a couple days. Very helpful! His contact info is on the US Dive Travel web site.

John coordinated for a local guide to meet us at the airport--our guide took us to and from our hotel, showed us around Copan, and gave us a personal tour of the Mayan Ruins. We stayed at the Hotel Marina Copan--the pictures on their web site don't do it justice.

I'm sure John would be happy to point you in right direction as far as setting up a side trip to Copan. If you are going all the way to Honduras, a side trip to the Mayan Ruins is well worth it! (IMHO)
