Other than the obvious strong winds, what are some weather conditions one can watch for that will probably result in good to better diving conditions? Is it better to dive just after a strong rain or storm? Just before? Hotter days, colder days?

I know it can depend on depth, but I was wondering if there were generals to consider.

Still new to the sport

Any day under the sea is fine by me...:D

Rain (and snow run off up here) will usually wash dirt and silt into the water. warm sunny weather sometimes increases the plankton blooms causing the shallower depth vis. to be bad. Basically it is a crap shoot, it changes from day to day here in Alaska. By the way, the diving up here is seriously underrated. I have seen some awesome stuff.
