Most face daily exposure to Dihydrogen Minoxide and yet know very little about it

In my very best Robin Williams imitation doing Mork from Ork:

Ar Ar Ar…Earth type chemical humor! Ar Ar Ar! :rofl3:

I absolutely crave dihydrogen mono-oxide. I prefer the naturally occurring form of an electrolytic solution by the addition of Chlorides of Sodium , Potassium and a host of other ionic salts. It’s even more fun at about 80º F off the eastern coast of the Baja penninsula at a depth of 40 feet or so off the northern pointof Isla Carmen.:D

Arr Arr Arrr dihydrogen monoxide! What a gas! (Or.at least it would be if it weren’t for the hydrogen bond!) :rofl3:

Okay, you saw right through that one, but, if you haven't checked out the DHMO website you gotta', it is classic, I can't beleive how much time and energy someone put into it. And it looks very similiar to the EPA sites:D

Stop! These one liners are coming too fast!

BTW, have you seen some of the photos of the Arizona lake diving? The ones with viz of about 5 feet? You ain't seeing through that dihydrogen monoxide!:rofl3:

But, seriously, that site has been around for awhile and it IS proceless.:D

No, the WD I am pretty sure is water displacement. Has anyone seen the list for things that WD 40 is good for--it is huge and ever growing, maybe add disinfecting of second stages to that list. N

:no I was taking a work safety course. During all the topics covered...was a part on spraying the stuff on your body joints. I did not believe the instructor, people actually spray it on arthritic parts of the joints.......knees, elbows, you name it. They swear by it. She went on to tell us how deadly this can be. Long term chronic, that sort of thing. AND thats absorbed only threw the skin! Inhale it at your own ?????(whats a good word for it)??

You mean my wife is going to catch cancer and my kids'll be deformed? This is truly troubling. I don't know what it is about WD40 but it is one of my favorite smells. No I don't mean huffing it (that's strictly sharpies for me) but just the scent. Perhaps I associate a lot of good memories with it. Anyway I used to always say that I was going to find a woman who wore WD40 as her perfume and marry her. I'm still searching for a wife, maybe I should be looking in the hospital...?

I wouldn't want it in my regs though. I just zap them with some lysol before each dive to keep 'em fresh.

OMG.....I just can't swallow this one. If anyone were to ever spray solvent on my regs I'd have to spray it in their eyes! Externally on metal.....maybe I guess but I see no need for it. Properly service, maintain and clean your gear. No need for stupid crap.
Nothing like smelling like a lawnmower engine before a dive...

From http://www.wd40.com/PressRoom/press_display.cfm?articleid=144:

In 1953, three technicians at what was then known as Rocket Chemical Company set out to create a line of rust-preventive solvents and degreasers to protect missile parts from corrosion. It took them 40 attempts to finalize the formula, but it worked. WD-40, which stands for Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try, was born.

If my regs got to the point where I needed WD-40 I would probably be new ones....... Although WD-40 and Marine NeverSeize I don't think I could live without as I use daily at work.
