I do some of my diving in water temps down to about 40 degrees (F). I know my question is somewhat subjective, based upon one's cold tolerance. Is the Waterproof H1 5/10mm hood meant primarily for ice diving? Is 5/10mm too thick for the waters I'll be in?

what does the 5/10 refer to? which parts are 5 and which parts are 10? that might help the OP decide

I wear mine in 72deg water comfortably. It’s duration dependent.

The 5mm is around the face, while the 10mm is from the top of the forehead to cover the rest of the head.

It’s what I use in Monterey.

I used mine in the Great Lakes for years. They are great hoods, very warm. I recently upgraded to the K01. Just as warm, much more comfortable.

That would be a good thickness of hood for your waters.

K01? What is that? I am also looking for a better hood.
