I'll be in Cozumel the first week in January. Any recommendations on wetsuit thickness?
I was thinking either 3 or 5 mil. Thanks.

Water temps usually in the mid to high 70's. 3mm is more than enough for most people, maybe with a hood if you're really in the water a lot. You'll probably even see some in shorties.

I've been there in November and April....water temps were consistantly 79 or 80, even at depth.

3 mil suit worked well.

I would take both the 5 and the 3. The water is between 76 and 78. At 8:00 am it can be in the high 50's or low 60's with a cold wind. When its 59 degrees with a strong wind, and waves are spraying you a 5 mil. can make a 45 minute boat ride a lot more enjoyable. If its in the 70's and calm you probably wont need it, but you have it for the next day if you need it.

They don't take up much space, just roll it up and shove it in the suitcase.

My husband and I both wear a 5mm fullsuit in cozumel and we have been there in April/May/June/July/Aug. I also wear a 3mm beanie. We do 3 or more dives per day for 5-6 days, so our core temp does drop during the week. Keep that in mind. We are also shooting video and photos, so we always move as slow as possible.

Just got back from Cozumel and my dive computer said the water temps at 60-70 feet were 78 degrees. My wife and I wore a full 3 mill with booties and we were comfortable. We only got cold between dives due to the wind blowing. Diving was great.

Just got back Sunday, was seeing anywhere from 78-80 depending on where / time of day

We're in Cozumel right now and I was worried about the same thing. My wife wore a 3 mil today and was fine accept after the dive, which is when the wind gets you. I wore a shorty and a dive skin and got a bit cold. 'm going to try my 5mil tomorrow as I don't have a 3 mil full, just a shorty.

Water temp on both dives today at Palancar was 80. Feels great in the water!
