Can anyone give me an idea of the water temp the second week of may in curacao? what is the normal suit worn? 3mm, 1mm, full, shorty?
I'm going the second week of may and wanted to get an idea of what kind of suit to get as the dry suit might be a bit much.

Had to go get the old logbook out from last year. My DC shows low water temp of 75 and high water temp of 80. I used a 3mm wetsuit and was fine.

Sounds about right for temp. Just came back and the water temp was 75. Dove with nothing but trunks and was fine.

75??! Brrrrr, I hope it's warmer than that when I go in June!

crpntr, where did you stay in Curacao? Who did you dive with? Where did you eat? We demand a trip report! :)

Sorry I can't be of more help but I dove while on a cruise. Will see if I can find something with the LDS name on it. Can't rememeber since I also dove in Aruba. At any rate it was a nice dive with a lot to see.
I think June is there high time for rain so be ready for rain.

Rain, schmain, I've had rain, high winds and choppy seas on almost every dive trip I've ever been on, so a few drops of water will seem like nothing!

And that's ok--wasn't aware you went on a cruise, but it sounds like you had a great trip! :)

I was in Bonaire 3 weeks ago and the water temp was a constant 79 to 80 deg F. I dove a fleece lined skin all week and was fine. Here is an UW web cam on Bonaire that has the water temp at about 15ft. Considering Bonaire is only 20 or so miles from Curacao I would think the temps should be very close.

Went later in the fall and it was 80°-81°, but I've spoken with others who said it should be only a couple degrees cooler right now. I dove with a ScubaPro SteamSuit, .5mm and my wife dove with just a jelly suit. We were fine. I loved the diving. Hopefully my trip report is still working.
