sorry i have no idea what to call this, but i remember hearing a while back about regulators that will squirt water in your mouth to help with the cotton mouth. What is the name for these and what brands make them?

Thanks

Never heard of shuch a thing...
There are, however, two very different approaches to the problem that I do know of - the Apollo Biofilter and the Sherwood Oasis.
The Biofilter is an in-line filter/moisturizer that attaches to the first stage LP port; your second stage hose attaches to it. Inside is a filter you pre-moisten, and the moisture is transferred to the breathing air.
The Oasis has a metal plate in the second stage that captures moisture by condensation from your exhaled breath, which re-evaporates into the air from the cylinder as you inhale again.

I have tried the Oasis, my dive buddy also uses one, and found that they help a little but not really as well as you would like. My instructor says that you eventually develop a resistance to where dry mouth no longer bothers you. My answer until such time as I develop some resistance.... when it gets uncomfortable take the reg out, blow some bubbles, replace the reg and purge. Dry mouth gone. Besides, blowing bubbles can be fun!

I own the oasis and it does whats it says it does. I think you are looking for SCUDA. Hope this helps.

hmmm...It may have been that they were talking about.I don't remember if they said it was a squirter or not anymore but,I remember it was something about keeping the mouth from drying out.

Thanks NINman! I think that's exactly what they were talking about.

Man O War--keep in mind that being well hydrated prior to the dive will help with the dry mouth. As landlocked mentioned I've found that with more dives under my belt the cotton mouth thing is not much of a problem anymore.

I drink lots of water but,it still happens.I used to dive a lot about 3-4 years ago and it wasn't that bad,But i just got back into it agian and my mouth gets dried out really bad(worse then when i first started diving).Something like this should help me until i start diving a lot agian(i will in the summer :) )

Does anyone know if a so called 'wet breathing' regulator (like many side-breathers) makes any difference? ... Bob
