"Cold and Murky" !?! The surface temp was 77F at Dutch yesterday and viz was 40-50 ft. As far as viz goes that's on par with Florida.

Great. Were hitting Dutch next Saturday then.
Did u see any colorful fish?

Thx.

There are usually colorful Koi around the pump-house area. You will find Blue Gills and Bass around the island. More bass under the platforms holding up the chopper. There are also one our two large trouts resident on the Silver Comet and the School bus, but you will have to dive past 40 ft to see them. There's also a big catfish. Seen him a few times on the south wall.

But will I see these snorkeling? Is the shallow area Sandy or do we need water shoes.

I recommend going to the pump house area, entering the water and swimming to your left. You will see some interesting structures in shallow water. Just past these you will find a shallow grassy area with a sand bottom. You usually find a lot to see there.

Most of the entries at Dutch are from ramps to floating platforms. You will have to walk on gravel getting to them.
