I was diving this weekend (I have been congested from allergies) - I successfully cleared my ears and got in 6 dives. But after each dive I was pretty full of water and it took some time to get out enough so that I could equalize my ears again. My last dive yesterday was only to 50 foot and I did not have any issues at all – however, I was also unsuccessful in getting the water out of my ears. Some as has come out but not all – I am continuing to take cold med’s , I am assuming it’s the congestion restricting the water from draining.

Does anyone have any tips on getting the water out? And I am asking for the between dive times. Does the “swimmer ear” drops work” I have logged only 11 dives so far and after each dive my ears are full and everything is muffled. After an hour enough drains so I can clear my ears during the next dive. But usually I need to switch from squeezing my nose to jaw thrusts – and it whistles as it equalizes, but there is no pain and I can descend. If I try the nose pinch and blow they usually crackle like mad and then revert right back to where they were before I tried to put pressure behind them (again, this is only after the initial dive of the day/weekend). On my first dive I equalize at the surface and dive down – at about 15 foot I need to squeeze my nose and blow again, and repeat at about 25-30….then I am usually good to 60 foot and after that I am good to about 90 foot (my max depth so far). But then as I ascend my ears crackle like mad from 20 foot to my safety stop and from there up to the surface – then its jaw thrusts. I speculate that my ear drum is then incredibly flexible and will not hold pressure behind it at that point

Sorry for rambling :-)
