Has anyone else heard of the possibility of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) causing hearing loss. I don't think it's all that common but from what I have read it is possible. I use ethyl alcohol for that reason. If you decide to use ethyl alcohol make sure it's not denatured. If you get it from a drug store it probably will be so just go down to your local liquor store and buy a bottle of Everclear. Everclear is 190 proof ethyl alcohol and it works great. I also heard that adding a tiny bit of boric acid to the alcohol will help restore the ph of your ear. I have no experience with the boric acid so I can't say for sure but I got the information from a diver/pharmacist so I believe it to be accurate.

I have always used 1 part alchohol, 1 part white vinegar and 1 part hydrogen peroxide and it has worked well for me.
