No, I still look just like my avatar picture (at least according to those who recognize me from it).
It's just that I may be retiring my current wetsuit in the near future. It only has 400-500 dives on it so far, and the legs haven't fallen off nor has the butt been patched yet. I guess it still has a lot of life left in it before it becomes a Catalina Classic like my M&B.
I was diving the park for my interview with The Weather Channel 10 days ago. I was finally diving with an old friend and new (finally) dive buddy, Heather (see my profile picture... that's Heather, but just so her reputation doesn't get tarnished we are simply dive buddies, nothing more... yet).
When we surfaced, one of Heather's ex BF's (a friend of mine and the guy who introduced me to her) came up with a Tilos semi-dry wetsuit in darned good shape. He said it looked like I needed a new wetsuit and he had three others he preferred.
Not sure if he did this for my benefit (I did "save his life" according to him by pointing out I thought he had embolized after a dive a few years ago), or for Heathers. But what the heck... I've got a new wetsuit. Once I switch from my curent Tilos to this one, I'll try to get the "new" one "broken in" (literally) as soon as possible so you can recognize me. Or just look for the diver flailing around on the bottom trying to get better video of that swell shark hidden deep in the wreck of the SueJack (or was it the lovely lady who just cruised by in her dry suit?).
Now, aren't you glad you read this meaningless thread? Bet you thought I was going to have some pearls of wisdom in it. Not true, but after I clean up the invasive Sargassum filicinum alga from the dive park, I may go after the winged pearl oysters (Pteria) that arrived from Mexico a while back and see if I can get a few decent pearls to win the heart of that dry suit clad lovely...
