Wanted: Dive Buddy for $499 Roatan Trip in December

Well, I can't resist a great deal and this is one:

Fantasy Island Resort Roatan Honduras Bay Island PADI Scuba Diving and Snorkeling Resort

Seven nights at Fantasy Island Beach Resort (FIBR) in Roatan.

Includes diving, room (double occupancy), food and drink (including alcohol).

I've never been there, but it gets great reviews here. I have been to CoCoView, next door.

It's $499 for the week, two in a room. If I have to go alone, it's still only $699, but I'd rather save the $200 and share the room.

If you're interested, I'd like to go either December 4 or December 11 (prefer the 4th).

I'm 61, male, have 100+ dives (but working on increasing my bottom time). Not a drinker or late night partier...especially after 3-4 dives.

I can fly from Baltimore via Atlanta for $700, arriving in Roatan before noon.

RON G: We couldn't pass up that deal either, but we couldn't wait until December. We have a group of us booked October 30 to November 7th.....and if you would be able to change your travel dates, there is a good probability we could hook you up with a roommate.

CD, Thanks for the offer. Turns out that my son's gonna join me....a great solution. (I didn't even think to ask him, at first, because of his vacation time constraints.)

By the way, your rave reviews of FIBR are one of the reasons I'm giving it a try. I'm going to Coco View next week for my second time. But, I love a good deal (for a good diving trip), so I'll go back in December to give Fantasy Island a try. (I'm actually planning to take a Coco View kayak for a spin to pop into FIBR to give it a quick look.)

I will be there Dec 5-12 with my two sons. We will see you there. Glad your son could make it.

This is our first trip to Roatan. Any advise on things to bring would be appreciated.

Ron: you are making my mouth water....Coco next week, wow I have to wait until October..wish I was headed to Roatan now. Hope my descriptions of FIBR will live up to your expectations....think you'll find the folks there a lot like the folks at Coco....the FI dive masters are much like Mark Washington and the guys at Coco...both those facilities have great guys and why everyone wants to keep going back and we pretty much all dive the same great dive sites. Let me know what you think after your trip.

My son and I are signed up for the week beginning Dec. 4. I'm sure we'll see you and your sons there.

As for what to bring to Roatan, I think the only thing unusual there is the "no-see-ums". I don't usually need insect spray, but I do there. Folks say Deet works, which is what I'm taking.
