Welcome to Florida, so many options, so little time.

All great advise given so far. Do check in with Scuba Jenny, and with Sandy Bramm - they are local dive pros with alot to offer you and your son. Jenny is a great guide at LBTS and Blue Heron Bridge. Sandy's boat is one of the most kid friendly/oriented dive operators in WPB area.

He was hooked diving at tablerock lake in MO.

After seeing a few Sharks, Rays, Morays.... the list goes on. He's ready to move to Key Largo.
