Mirror Lake, Devens is open to SCUBA divers with prior permission from the local fire dept and pre-approval from the local recreation dept.

One more .... What about the pond in the blue hills park. I think its called houghtons pond?? I know they allow swimming.
In addition there are lots of little swimming holes around (i.e. Newton, wayland etc.)
Didnt know we now have to ask permission from the rec. departments .... Im a lil turned off by that one.

Mirror Lake is not worth all the trouble to go diving in it. Big muck bowl at the bottom, and you dont even have to touch bottom to make it bad... yuck...
Hmmm, Sog... trade in that Bare for a Viking and a full face mask! That'll solve your problem.

I found these maps when looking for local ponds to kayak. Not swimming/diving info but it's a start.

Though not that close to Waltham, Hopkinton State Park/Reservoir might allow diving. Not sure if it's a general thing but I looked into it once and came across an article in a local paper that talked about local police divers practicing there some years back. It does have beach areas. Here's a state park site that includes some info about swimming areas.

What about the Upper Mystic lake in Medford? I would think that scuba diving might be allowed there. I know that swimming is ( in designated areas anyway.)
