Hi all!

Sorry to be a pain, because I feel like I'm badgering a bit. Some of you may know from my other posts that I'm trying to pick an outfit in WPB for a dive in August when I'm visiting my parents. Of all the ones I've asked about on ScubaBoard, there has been virtually no one with an opinion on Walker's Dive Charters. Has anyone dove with them at all? I can't help but think that since there seems to be very few opinions on here about them, they might not be a good option.

Incidentally, if anyone is around on August 12th or 13th (not sure which date yet) and is up for a dive in WPB and willing to put up with me, let me know! :D

Their boat is The Wetter The Better. Bill is a good captain and will put you on a reef that matches your skill level. There will be a DM and dive ball to take you down. Stick with the DM, and you can have a relaxing dive.

If you and a buddy want to spear, that may be ok, but check first. If the boat is completely full, spears might not be welcome. There will usually be a mix of experienced divers and newbies. They may drop the experienced divers first without a DM and then drop the newbies on a shallower reef.

Personally, I have dove with them at least 30 times in the last couple of years.

I haven't heard of em. I'll have to check em out.

Thanks, flahiker! I think you were the one that recommended them on one of my posts, so thanks for the additional info! I'm really surprised though that no one else has anything to offer about them. I mean, *someone* on this board also has to have gone with them, right?

I didn't catch the name right off, knowing them as "The Wetter The Better".
Good boat and crew. Have dove with them several times.

Jon,

There are several good boats there. This is one. Very professional. If you are newer to diving, and unfamilliar with WPB, you won't go wrong here.

I would go with you, but that weekend, I am going spearing in the Tortugas!

Dove with with Bill and his crew a number of times. I have referred many friends to them and have had almost 100% positive feedback. One of the only little negatives I hear now and then is that the ladder is not the easiest to climb. If you listen to the briefing the crew gives excellent info on how to overcome this little detail.

Otherwise, the boat is one of the nicer appointed boats in the area. There is a head you actually use without getting ill and plenty of space. Loading and unloading is 100% easier at the North Palm Marina than at Riviera Beach Marina as you can almost always park within 60 feet or so of the boat. The crew is knowledgeable, helpful but not overbearing. Bill and knows the reefs very well. If his son Mike is back in town and onboard he can describe the reef to you like a mini-video down to the smallest detail.

I have no hesitation recommending them as one of my favorite boats in the area.

I just did my OW check out dives along with 2 more nitrox dives with them this past Saturday. While I have no other dive boat experiences to compare I have to say that I had a great time! The staff were very professional and friendly. On the first dive the seas were about 5 feet. I didn't find the ladder to be too difficult. It became easier to climb as the seas calmed later in the day. My husband and I were the only ones from our dive class to stay and do the 2 extra nitrox dives. I was a little nervous since my instructor wasn't going to be there. They put me at ease immediately.
