I have a SUUNTO Vyper 2 dive computer and just purchased a USB cable for the DM5 software. It says in the DM5 manual that the Vyper computer must be configured manually but does not say how. The Vyper computer manual says it can connect to DM but won’t say how. I looked it up on the web but can’t find help. Does anyone know how to connect?

I can't find the information. Usually there is some sort of "PC" state that might only appear when the cable is connected. I do recall that with some computers you have to use DM4 not DM5.

I've fussed with DM4 and DM5 and MovesCount trying to get various Suuntos to download data and do other things. I've usually been able to in the end but almost nothing was easy, with my VytecDS working great one day and absolutely no friggin' way the next. I haven't been a fan of Suunto's software. I use the log function and write things down.

There is a new update for DM5 which will fix some issues regarding connecting Vyper Air and other devices. You can get the update by just re-starting DM5 and upgrading through automatic upgrade or downloading the latest version from the download links below.
If you have any issues on connecting with dive computer, installation or other issues please report them to support@suunto.com and we will troubleshoot all issues through our contact centre. From those reports we can improve and troubleshoot the issues and fix them as soon as possible. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and trouble this has caused you all

When I used Suunto computers the software at the time worked well on a PC, but after I moved to using a Mac I was never able to download my dives with whatever version of software I used.

Dive computers that use bluetooth make life so much simpler, at least for me.

Have you given Subsurface a try? https://subsurface-divelog.org/

Documentation says Vyper 2 is supported

Please do not ban me from the forum, I feel so stupid. I had not pushed the USB cable deep enough into the dive computer. The USB cable kept falling off the dive computer so I got frustrated and pushed it in with great force, that’s when I heard a click. I looked at the PC and the dives started uploading.

I was going to suggest posting this in the computer forum or in Suunto, now it's just for future reference
