Reading the DP manual I came accross the different deco algorithms and it was mention about the VPM-B for shallow deco dives and the VPM-B/E for deeper dives as this one is more conservative and is better suited for deeper dives, and mention that the VPM-B was more convinient and proven good for shallower deco dives and you were out of the water quicker, but it actually doesn't mention at what depth it is one more suggested over the other, of course this is basically a personal preference, of being more conservative than others.

What are your VPM preferences and at what depth you implement one over the other ?

What is this relatively resent VGM, and is there a great advantage using it ?

How pupular is this VGM and which DC use this deco software ?

All answered in Deep Into Deco (TOC attached) in the [VPM-B variations] and the [Combined models] sections.

VPM-B is great for dives with deco obligation less that 120min (300ft range) and the E variant is better suited to deco obligation exceeding 2 hours. I cant comment on VGM. I only know a few guys that use VPM-E and they all dive CCR (longer deeper dives)

Buhlman and VPM have a good track record. It obviously depends on the level of diving you're doing. No matter what algorithm you're using, you will have to add conservative variables as your diving becomes more involved. This can only be achieved with time in the water and experiencing how you feel after deco. By this I don't advocate you progressing depth and risk at a fast pace. As you may already know, decompression diving has many variables, and day to day or dive to dive these variables change. Since you are new to this it will be easy to not recognize mild symptoms of dcs which should be warning you to pad your schedules, so be conservative. Also watch the amount of physical exertion during and after deco.

VPM-B/E below 80m. VPM-B is find for typical 'extended range' and normoxic trimix type dives. 'E' for full trimix.

... IMHO
