Does anyone have information about Vortex Springs? I've heard the diving is good because of the visibility, but also that the water is COLD! Has anyone been there?

Stacey

The water is 68 year round (that's not cold to me). The vis can be very good, but I've been there when there were check out divers, and the vis was less than 10 feet. At least till you got to the opening of the cave.

Its a great place to train, and a great place for new divers, just stay out of the cave until you have the training, gear, and experience.

All the panhandle springs are 68F year round, unless river water has flooded them over. Consider that the northern gulf is around 60-63F right now(and can get as low as 54F in a cold winter), 68F isn't as cold as you might think

Better place to learn about panhandle dive sites is at http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/deep-dixie-divers/
