This sounds like a great idea and something I would listen/subscribe to.

The great thing about an open platform is to see where the conversation goes. With different perspectives, it could take a turn into many different avenues.I'm interested. I went straight from OW certification to solo and that is basically all I do now.
Question is how down in the weeds you want to get with the philosophical side of it, because at the end of the day it comes down to values around risk profiles and risk vs reward, etc.
Values, risk profiles, and risk vs reward can vary from one person to the next. Conversations like this are great to have and are being conducted on Scubaboard. The idea now is to have a "face-to-face" in an open, hopefully civil verbal conversation.
That is what I find interesting. The person who solo dives regularly and considers it normal versus someone who would never consider it. Neither is right/wrong, just different perspectives. Arguing about technicalities (e.g. gear configuration) in this context is less interesting in my opinion. Regarding the round table format, it's a great idea, but needs a chairperson to steer the discussion and keep time etc. Maybe you had planned on this?
I think you are now trying to do to much and rely on a lot of ppl. Best bet is keep it simple at first collect names and time zone/availability and match up the best fit. If not you are going to spend so much time trying to make all the tables work you will go crazy. From the responses I am getting, I think the best thing to do is branch out and open it up to regional tables. If you are interested please DM your email and I will start a group email between parties so we can find a time that works for all parties interested in participating.
Yes, I would be the mediator/chairperson.That is what I find interesting. The person who solo dives regularly and considers it normal versus someone who would never consider it.
