Are there any authentic Vlaamse Frites (Dutch French fry) shops on Bonaire? My wife lived in the Netherlands for awhile, and I can't tell you how happy it would make her to find Vlaamse Frites with authentic sauces (especially the curry mayo).

I have not seen them there but most places have good fries where mayo is the primary condiment not ketchup. Those fries you showed look awesome.

I hope (and am sure) you will have a great time there. I am headed back in Sept. And am very excited.

Buddy Dive has fries and real Dutch food including kroket and frikandel. Several places in town have fries and assorted Dutch food, including a bar/restaurant on a central square in town with a very international menu. Issue of authenticity is a bit thorny. The fries you're showing pretend to be from Belgium (Flanders), although popular in the Netherlands. To my unrefined taste they, like all fries, pretty much taste like deep fried potato sticks. The proper way to get them is from a street car, which I didn't see. It might not have the same appeal at 30C as in the Netherlands/Belgium.

You might enjoy the food at the beach bar at Lac Bai. They serve dutch food/snacks like bitterballen, etc. Have fun. Bring your snorkel gear and walk out to the break water

.:confined: Get out of the jar!

Wattaburger (next to city cafe) is a real dutch snackbar. Their fries are not the thick Flemish type but they do definitely have curry and mayo and many other sauces.

thank GOODNESS there is no such place in Bonaire..or else, I'd be fat...Wattaburger's fries are standard frozen American style fries..but the pinda sauce makes it good. IMHO Bobbijan's has the best fries....salty and the pinda sauce ..yummy...
