Thu., 11/7 - Sun., 11/11 We will be shore diving in La Jolla on Thursday afternoon, on the Marissa for Friday and Saturday, then flying out late Sunday. cdemith - Are you going to be on the Marissa on Saturday per your earlier post in this thread?

Making my reservation today. See you on Saturday!

Diving was awesome! Two dives on the Yukon, one on Ruby. Beautiful day with perfect weather and flat seas.

Special thanks to Lora of Marissa, I'll see you again soon. Thanks also to MrsGodfather and Chrisso, it was great to meet you both. Eva and friends, I look forward to diving with you guys again.

Cap'n Lora is great. The other captains get grumpy because everyone likes her the best. Maybe they need to learn a thing or two about hospitality.

Was out on the Marissa with my husband (Chrisso) and cdemith this past weekend for Point Loma kelp dives one day, and the 3-tank Yukon and Ruby E wreck trip mentioned by cdemith a couple of posts above.

Despite a a few misgivings because the Marissa main website had been down for a couple of days (although not its reservation site), all was well. Captain Lora and Captain Aaron took great care of us. The no-babysitting, no-handholding way the Marissa crew go about doing things was a refreshing change from the type of boat diving experience we're used to from our many trips to Cozumel. How fantastic not have to be with a group of newbies doing their check-out dives, and not to have to ascend together when the teenager who won't stop chasing sea life into the current blows through his air in 15 minutes.

Thumbs up on the Marissa! If you're looking for a lot of handholding or aren't quite sure of your own dive planning and navigation skills, the Marissa is not a great fit for you, but if you're looking to be allowed to use your own training and be softly facilitated towards great self-guided dives, the Marissa is a fantastic match.

That's pretty much how all the Ca dive boats are.
