I'm doing a little future planning. What are the visa requirements for a US citizen visiting Japan? Can I just get one on entry or do I have to have it before I come in?
 
When you arrive in Japan, you'll be issued a "Temporary Visitor" visa in your passport, good for 90 days. No preparation necessary.

When will you be coming? Planning on diving too?
 
When is not known at this point. As for diving, I honestly can't say. I'm planning to pass through on my way to Bangkok. Coming back, I may stay a few days. It all depends on the flight schedules.
