The Royal Bahamas Police Force has opened an investigation into the suspected drowning of an American tourist.
According to a police report, the 46-year-old woman, who is a resident of Northern Virginia, was scuba diving on Pearl Island shortly before midday on Tuesday when she began to have breathing difficulties.
“As a result, the victim was retrieved from waters and transported to Princess Margaret Hospital, where she was seen and examined by a doctor, who pronounced her dead,” police said.
