i have a choice between the suunto viper 250 euros or the zoop 200 euros

which one do u think is the best?

im kinda thinking of going with the viper tho so whats ur thoughts on it? im an o w diver with 40 dives,i will be doing nirtox course when i get to sharm this week, ive no intention of doing decommpression diving at least for the next 2 years

thanks for any advice

The vyper has gauge mode, and can do less than 30s samples for profiling purposes.

Suunto - Compare

The vyper will last you 'longer' in terms of continuing education since you can turn it into a gauge/bottomtimer. Up to you if you're planning on doing any technical/deep diving though. Depending on who you do the courses with, you'll plan your dives in different ways (and such having a trimix capable computer won't matter).

If you want to be unpatriotic (ie not funding Biffo's junkets, Anglo bailout through VAT ), you can buy Vyper for around 200 euro, exchange rate included, on Simply Scuba.

i dont mind taking my funding away from biffo and his pals,,did u see what happeded at the dail last night,,things are getting interesting i think

im going away in the morning tho so wouldnt have time for the shipping and that thanks for the advice tho

vjannelle thank u for the link,, they both look very similar to me,,the back light seems better on the viper and the color is also much nicer if i decided to wear it as a watch,, i think ive made up my mind

thank you to u both

Why are you limited to those two choices?

I'd get an Aladin Tec 2g. It is simple, big numbers, relatively inexpensive and goes into gauge mode and depth aveages when you are are ready.

ive bought the vyper, its cool, really happy with it,, i had only those 2 to choose from because i was leaving for my trip the after i decided to buy one

im very happy with the vyper though,, whats gauge mode for exactly,,is it for free diving or something

I'm going to resurrect this old thread since I've been looking at these two computers, as well as others, and may save someone else a little time and effort searching for the same answers.

Differences between the Zoop and the Vyper (not the Vyper Air!):

Zoop Phosphorescent display - Vyper Electro-luminescent display
Vyper has adjustable backlight duration
Maximum depth display: Zoop 99m/328ft - Vyper 150m/492ft
Vyper has a calendar clock and 1 daily alarm, Zoop has neither

The Vyper also comes with the USB download cable, which costs $74.95. Coincidentally, the street price difference between the two (not suggested retail/dealer price) is about $75.
So. if you're going to use the download function, it seems to me it's a no brainer to get the Vyper. If not, there's no glaring difference between the two worth the extra $75.

Since you brought it up, my zoop now lives as a spare to my vyper air. Instead of a watch and depth gauge as a back up to my vyper air, I just use the zoop I already own.

However if only choosing one, the vyper is a clear winner.
