video with DC 1000

Is the video any better quality with the DC 1000 than with the old DC 500? (I don't have the specs for my old 500).

I read in the DC 1000 booklet, that the left lowqer corner of the pix taken with the camera's own flash will have obstructed flash like the 500, rats.

I have no idea whether it is better than the DC500 because I have never owned one.

This is a pretty good idea of what the video looks like...
