video system for new photographer

What system would you recommend for a new videographer?-housing, camera, and lights...with accessories too.

Spend around 2,000-3,000 bucks.

Something Sony MiniDV in a Ocean Images or Top Dawg Housing. Or an Ikelite if you prefer manual controls. Lights are probably the third thousand. The only accessories I can think of are wideangle ports and internal/external LCD monitors. Monitors are sometimes almost as much as the housing. I don't use an add-on port so don't know their cost. And a good Pelican case to put it all in.

Read the posts here, there's lots of current model suggestions. And in case you didn't notice, one of the stickies at the top of this forum has links to all the manufacturers.

I'd ask what you are REALLY looking for,

What do you specifically want, you can get a video camera setup (sort of) for less than one thousand, but it really depends what you are looking to do with the photage.

Sony HC1 high definition camcorder $1600
Ikelite housing $1300

Hold off on the lights or spend $400 on Ikelite or Nocturnal.

A kick-*** system that is definitely not a beginner setup, but since your budget allows it, why not ?
