I only shoot video. Lights off except for night dives and macro.

Ambient light for wide angle from dawn to dusk. GoPro for wide angle in good light conditions. Full frame for dawn/dusk and deep dives.

The only video lights I carry regularly are 500 lumens for macro work with my camera at around f18. I do have 9,000 lumens video lights that I can use for wide angle work but my preference is for ambient lighting.

No one has mentioned battery! If you leave video lights on the whole time, battery is gonna be a draining!

Many good video lights can run for several hours especially on low power settings. I do not leave mine on and might not charge them for 6 dives. Better to charge after every day of diving though.

That's interesting. I have two Sola 2000 video lights which I purchased in 2012. They've had a lot of use and I can just about get 30 minutes out of them now. This translates to two dives if I only turn them on when needed. Maybe I'm due an upgrade! Any recommendations?

The latest GoPros can record in log 10bit right?

Supposed to be good particularly for wide, ambient footage with no artificial light required?
I think mine is GP10 and is 4K 19 bit colour. I think it is perfectly adequate for shallow dive (above 20m) ambient light (no video lights) wide angle in daylight

You can replace the batteries with a bit of surgery.
