Has anyone used the BigBlue Underwater LED Light System Kit for GoPro?

How does it compare to just using a pair of Halcyon Scouts with the LED upgrade?

$369.95 isn't a bad price, but rigging up the Scouts that I already have would be much cheaper.
If the Halcyon is brighter it's a no brainier based on price and performance.
If BigBlue is the winner, I guess it depends on just how much brighter.

Halcyon is rated at 5875 Lux at 3 feet/1m and 825 Lux at 10 feet/3m
BigBlue is rated at 250 lumens
Having trouble figuring out how exactly that compares?

Halcyon scout beam will be way too narrow for Gopro's wide angle lens. You will get hot spot in your frame. You want a light with very wide, smooth and even beam.

250 lumen is too little lights I believe for the Gopro. And to cover the wideangle you will need 2 lights with at least 60 deg. each.
No SPOT lights will work for video neither for photo.
Lumen= total "amount" of visible light emitted by a source, -> luminus flux= luminous power.
Lux= lumen pr. square meter\ feet ( SI-unit)

Wouldn't using a diffuser help?

I don't see it listed in the specs, but I can't imageing the tiny little lights that come with the BigBlue kit being too wide of an angle either.

A diffuser will help, BUT it will lower the effect of the light a lot. If you have a POWERful spotlight, you can use a diffuser.
But it depends on your filming conditions and expectations.
